Musical Happenings

It's no surprise to us that Sarah enjoys all things musical.  At an early age she showed an appreciation for music.  She enjoys listening to music, singing, playing, and just basically getting her groove on :)

When Sarah was 15 months old, I found her doing what so many little ones love to do - BANG THINGS!!! (see the video)

She likes to sing too.  Her first song was Old McDonald, and she would sing the e-i-e-i-o part (she can sing much more of it now).  She graduated to her ABCs and Twinkle Twinkle, along with many others (check her out singing Skidamerink).  Some of her favorites are The Muppet's "Mahna Mahna", "Let it Go" from Frozen, "Little Ditty" from Carpar Babypants, and some of her songs from our Kindermusik class.  She's cutest when she's singing FOR you.  Here she is singing Happy Birthday for her Aunt Julie.

Lately Sarah has returned to instruments.  Perhaps you caught her video of jamming out with Dan (click to watch Sarah on the harmonica with Dan playing guitar).  You can often find her listening to Dan play guitar, as she requests these little "concerts", having him trade out between his acoustic or the electric.  Sarah like to help strum along too.

Sarah has her own little Elmo guitar that we got her for Christmas in 2013.  She knows how to turn it on, and presses the buttons to sing along to the Elmo song.  Her newest interest is the guitar for the Wii.  She asks us to play Guitar Hero while she jumps around the living room.  We noticed how much she was enjoying herself that we invested in a Rock Band set for the Xbox.  I found a set on Craig's List that another family was passing along.  The set even came in a nice little ottoman to store everything (it even fits the Wii guitar too).  That's a good thing, because if Sarah sees the guitar(s), she wants us to play them.  Being the smarty pants that she is, she'll bring us the game case, or a remote, and say, "Here you go."  She evens knows how to open the lid to the ottoman (it's basically a toy box).  If I put things an top of it to hopefully prevent her from opening it, that doesn't matter, she'll pull everything off of it!

Looks like we'll be investing in some lessons as she gets older.  Better get ourselves ready for some recitals and competitions.  Who knows what she'll like best - dancing, singing, playing an instrument...
